Demand is increasing for removable media that can store large files such as digital video and other multimedia content. With its 2.3GB capacity and high transfer rate, GIGAMO is an ideal choice for motion video editing and storage.
Key to achieving such massive capacity is the newly developed MSR (Magnetically-induced Super-Resolution) technology. By using triple magnetic recording layers to form a mask within the laser spot, MSR enables differentiation of smaller recorded marks than is possible with conventional optics. This means that the disk's linear density and track density can be increased while retaining conventional MO disk drive optical assemblies.
Sony's original anti-static hard coat protects the disk against scratches and dust. Designed for smooth operation, the shutter is made of a strong, lightweight and wear-resistant aluminum alloy that has a high magnesium content.
The proposed Media ID function adds a unique number to each 3.5-inch MO disk, which, when used in combination with applications incorporating the Media ID, allows protection of various kind of digital information.
