Built around Sony's AIT tape technology, the AITi90/S (SDX-400C) series tape drives offer up to 33% higher performance to the ultra-reliable and innovative AIT-1 product line. Using an Ultra Wide SCSI interface, the AITi90/S series delivers data at sustained transfer rates up to 10.4 MB/s.
Sony AIT tape drives incorporate a redesigned head geometry, reducing head/tape pressure and delivering up to 50, 000 hours of head life and an industry leading MTBF rating of 300, 000 POH (100% duty cycle). AIT drives offer high capacity in an extremely compact 3.5-inch form factor. With a compact size a fraction of the size of other high capacity tape drive formats, AIT drives are easy to integrate into desktop workstations, servers, and automated tape libraries. Sony AIT drives incorporate a Super Head Cleaner mechanism activated automatically by the drive mechanism when tape errors approach a certain threshold.
